Frutas Finas de Valles de Michoacan, S.A. de C.V. (FFVM) is an avocado packer and shipper located in Santa Clara del Cobre, in the Mexican state of Michoacan, where one third of the world’s avocados are produced. It belongs to the Coliman Group, a family-owned group of companies dedicated to growing, packing, and marketing fresh fruits and vegetables in Mexico and overseas.

The Coliman Group started its farming operations in the 1960s, in the Colima area of western Mexico, headed by Mr. Custodio Aguilar-Malaga. It soon expanded its activities to include packing and marketing. Later, in the late 1970s, as the sons of Mr. Aguilar joined the company, the group grew its farming and marketing operations in other regions of Mexico, first in the Northern state of Sonora, later in Northern and Southern Baja California, Aguascalientes, and Tapachula, Chiapas. Nowadays, headed by 3 brothers, Jorge Angel, Custodio, and Victor Aguilar-Heredia, the group also includes a marketing and distribution facility in Phoenix, Arizona and San Diego, California, a trucking company, and several other companies providing related services.

FFVM was established as a subsidiary of the Coliman Group in 1992. It began sourcing and packing Hass avocados to supply the Group’s wholesale outlets in different Mexican cities. Later, it started direct operations with a number of the largest Mexican retailers. In the late 1990s, the company was a pioneer in exporting to Costa Rica. While maintaining its business in the Mexican and Central American markets, in the early 2000s FFVM has positioned itself as a very important player in the exportation of Mexican avocados. It now ships regularly to USA and Japan, where the Coliman brand has been acknowledged to be the leader in quality. It also serves customers in France, Spain, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore.

In order to better serve its global customers, FFVM is engaged in comprehensive programs of food safety and quality, phytosanitary measures, and workers’ health and hygiene. It was awarded a certification for its food safety practices by Scientific Certification Services, Primus Lab, Senasica, México Calidad Suprema and has been approved by the Mexican Government for its food safety and phytosanitary standards.

OUR PRODUCTS

FFVM exclusively offers fresh Hass avocado products, under the Coliman and Zirahuen labels. We have a number of different packaging options for our customers.

• United States: 25-lb. double-layer cardboard box with trays (80 boxes/pallet). Sizes 32, 36, 40, 48, 60, 70, 84. Single-layer flats available upon request.

• Japan: 6-kg single-layer cardboard box/flat with tray (160 boxes/pallet). Sizes 18, 20, 24, 30, 35-count.

• Canada/Europe/South America: 4-kg single-layer cardboard box, without tray (252 boxes/pallet). Sizes 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26-count.

• PLU coding available upon request

• Transportation: 40-ft. sea reefer containers for overseas shipments; control atmosphere available. For North America, refrigerated trucks with satellite tracking. All shipments contain 20 pallets each.
