Hass Avocado: the green gold of Mexico
The Aguacate name (Persea gratissima, American Persea) derives from the native word "aoacatl" or "ahuacatl" and receives other names like "Palta" in South America, Avocado in the English language, "Evocatier" in French and "Abacate" in Portuguese.
Mexico is the first world-wide producer of Hass Avocado with a cultivated surface, in the State of Michoacan, of approximately 80 thousand hectares (200 thousand acres) with a yield average of 9,7 tons per hectare, that give a production annual average of 776 thousand tons of avocado.
All these compounds as a whole, when being consumed in a single fruit like the avocado, promote a healthy life, vitalize the immunological system, improve the vision, protect to the cells of the damages by stress and prevent the cancerigenic diseases and of the liver, they improve also the food digestion.

Mexican Hass Avocado is available throughout year, thanks to existing microclimates within the 80 thousand cultivated hectares of avocado in the Michoacan State. Exist warm , tempered and cold zones. The avocado of warm zones is available at the beginning of the season, later is available from tempered zone and towards the end of the season cold zone avocado is ready. The avocado season initiates officially in August and finishes in July next year.
Each market is different therefore demands different presentation. The caliber settles down by the grams and the number of avocados that fit in a specific capacity box. For example Japanese market demands presentation of 6 kilograms carton boxes, USA market requires 22 pounds carton boxes, European market needs 4 kilograms carton boxes. Worldwide caliber 22 means that we must fit a 4 Kg., box with avocados that weigh from 176 up to 189 grams.
