PRODUCERS MEET HOTEL AND RESTAURANT OWNERS IN MORELIA EN BOCA 2015

Among the most interesting products were: frog legs, ice cream artisans and trout.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), reported that the producers and agribusinesses that participated in the Festival Internacional de Gastronomía y Vino de México, Morelia en Boca 2015, had immediately sales for 2.7 million pesos in three days of the event.
The Mexican agribusinesses were backed up by SAGARPA, through the Agency of Marketing Services and Development of Agricultural Markets (ASERCA).
The participants offered to thousands attendees traditional products and food as jamaica flower, mescal, trout, catfish, tilapia fish and frog, also cheese, mushroom, and jams of fruits from the region.
Furthermore, they established direct contact with 16 international chefs and traditional cooks, which opened new opportunity areas for producers in the hotel and restaurant industries.
In the framework of this event, the General Coordinator for Trade Promotion and Exports of ASERCA, Georgius Gotsis Fontes, said that the attendance was of more than 4 thousand 400 people from Mexico and abroad.
The attendees had the opportunity of knowing cookery books and special food preparation of the Mexican traditional ingredients, as to make “maridajes” with products of Michoacán and outstanding table wine.
In the event, there was an acknowledgement to the gastronomical researcher, Diana Kennedy, for the diffusion of the products of Michoacán and the Mexican Cuisine.
The Governor of Michoacán, Salvador Jara was in charge of the opening; also participated representatives from the governments of the United Kingdom and Ireland, among others.
