Berlin, Feb 3 (Notimex) – An official source said that the position of Mexico as a partner at the Fruit Logistica international fair of agricultural products, which takes place in Berlin, is a major boost for the country to reach European markets.
It is also a reminder to foreign marketing and distributors that Mexico has free trade agreements with the 27 countries of the European Union (EU), which this year will achieve the lifting of almost all tariffs, declared the Director of ASERCA, Ana Graciela Aguilar Antuñano.
She also highlighted that this is the bicentennial year, so cultural ties can be projected with Europe, and remarked that the EU is the second largest agro-food exports trading partner of Mexico, after the United States.
Since the signing of the agreement between Mexico and the EU, Mexican food and agricultural exports to the EU have almost doubled.
She stated that it is a positive factor that the participation of Mexico in this Fruit Logistica is the largest so far. "We remind our producers to also accept the challenge to export to the European market", said Aguilar.
“This year we have 40 producers’ organizations representing a total of thousand individual producers”, and recalled that last year only 27 Mexican producers attended the fair.
"The Mexican pavilion is now full of visitors and producers are making contact with many potential clients and above all received congratulations because the high standards of quality of their fresh products," she mentioned.
Potential opportunities are clear: "the European Union annually imports fresh agricultural products valued at $ 70 billion dollars and Mexico exported almost 800 million dollars, so there are many possibilities to take advantage of", she concluded.
